The Gobelsburg winery is located in a beautiful baroque palace which is in the possession of the Zisterzienser monastery Zwettl since 1740. It has been famous for a long time because of their altar wine. But only since Michael Moosbrugger is managing the winery it developed to be one of the best in Austria. Something all wines from Gobelsburg have in common is their great elegance and their complexity.
Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are the main varieties and they come in various different styles from a light, fresh and fruity version to the heavy and in oak matured Grüner Veltliner Tradition. The highlight of their wine range is the almost legendary single vineyard Grüner Veltliner “Lamm”. Even though red wine is only a small part of their production Moosbrugger has proofen that he has a very good sense for the sensitive varieties Pinot Noir and St. Laurent.
